GlaxoSmithKline, a world-leading research-based pharmaceutical company, announced a $12-million investment to support an additional three-year research and monitoring program designed to assess the effectiveness of seasonal flu vaccines.
The program will track the incidence and severity of the disease in hospitalized adults who have the flu. It will extend to 40 hospitals in several Canadian provinces, including Québec, and involve about 17,000 adults receiving short-term care.
In particular, the funds will keep flu watch centres operating in certain Canadian hospitals.
