Québec's Research and Innovation Strategy Québec's research and innovation strategy recognizes research and innovation as the foundation of the province's competitiveness and as the engines of both economic development and job creation.
For companies that want to innovate, the strategy includes a range of measures that foster innovation, encourage networking and ease access to various resources. As part of this strategy, the Québec government plans to invest $1.2 billion over a three-year period, mainly to encourage the implementation of infrastructures. Drug Policy Québec also adopted a drug-medication policy in the spring of 2007, which is the first of its kind in North America. The integrated strategy is designed to ensure that economically disadvantaged people get better access to prescription medication and it encourages rational use of medication. This policy also recognizes the pharmaceutical industry's significant contribution to the economy and encourages its development.
