Aluminum Processing: Québec Contributes to SKL Technology’s New Plant

Saguenay, Monday, April 19, 2004 - The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and MNA for Jonquière, Françoise Gauthier, today announced a contribution by Investissement Québec to SKL Technology of Saguenay.  The Corporation is providing a guarantee on a loan of $237 000 to purchase equipment for its plant.

SKL Technology makes air and oil radiators from aluminum for the aftermarket.  The equipment is designed for heavy-duty trucks and industrial machinery, particularly in the forest industry, and is currently made exclusively in the United States, which means significant waiting time for delivery. SKL is the sole Canadian manufacturer in this market.

Françoise Gauthier expressed her satisfaction with SKL's contribution to the economy of Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean: "Aluminum is a key asset for the vitality of the region's economy.  SKL is able to process and use this resource by combining it with its long experience in the radiator field, thus becoming the only specialist in Canada in the field and the only one able to quickly satisfy demand from customers in Québec."
