Bolloré invests $120-million in Boucherville
The French group Bolloré will inject $120-million in the former Avestor plant in Boucherville, which it bought in 2007 and relaunched as Bathium Canada. The plant makes lithium-metal-polymer batteries for electric vehicles.

A $40-million upgrade for Bridgestone
Bridgestone Canada will invest over $40-million to modernize its Joliette facilities and acquire state-of-the-art equipment to boost productivity. The Joliette plant, which manufactures high-end and large-size tires, thus plans to remain competitive and maintain its position as a world-class plant.

Aluminerie Alouette and Bridgestone recognized for excellent management
The Grands Prix québécois de la qualité honoured Aluminerie Alouette on November 12 at a gala that attracted a thousand people to the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

International subsidiaries vying for investments from their parent companies are often in fierce competition with sister companies to get that coveted piece of the pie.
In August 2008, Marcel Brunet, Director of Operations for Schering-Plough’s plant in Pointe-Claire, contacted Gilles Léonard, Director, Subsidiaries at Investissement Québec to discuss rationalization measures adopted by Schering-Plough. Brunet saw a business opportunity in these measures.
During his mission to Brazil last November, Pierre Arcand, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, inaugurated the Québec government office in São Paulo. He also co-chaired the first meeting of the Paraná-Québec joint co-operation committee. In the wake of this mission, Louise Morin, Executive Vice-President, International Affairs, at Investissement Québec, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
