Miguel Caron at the Helm of Funcom’s New Studio
The Norwegian company Funcom, which opened a studio in Montréal this fall to develop online games, has just appointed Miguel Caron as CEO of Funcom Games Canada. Caron has successfully headed up several companies in the past 15 years, notably Lyrtech and BCM International.


Investissement Québec’s President on Economic Mission in India
Jacques Daoust, President and Chief Executive Officer of Investissement Québec, will be in India until February 5 to highlight Québec’s competitive advantages for potential investors. This business development initiative is part of the economic mission headed by Québec Premier Jean Charest and Québec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Clément Gignac.



R&D at the Heart of Kontron’s Growth Strategy


Heads of Subsidiaries Visit IBM Plant in Bromont
About 20 heads of subsidiaries met at the IBM plant in Bromont on December 8. Managing Director Raymond Leduc and his team took their guests on a tour of the facilities where components for IBM computers and game consoles are assembled and verified. The daylong visit included three presentations by IBM managers on mobilizing staff, adopting a lean approach and greening the plant.
Increase in Investment Tax Credit
As a result of the changes made in December 2009 to the investment tax credit (ITC) for manufacturing and processing equipment, businesses in certain regions, including Montréal and Québec City, can now benefit from an increased base rate. Thus, the rate for businesses in these regions can be increased to 10% from now on. The rate may rise to 20% if a business invests in an intermediary zone, 30% in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region2 and 40% in a remote region.
