52nd International Paris Air Show – Le Bourget
Paris, June 20, 2017 – Espace Québec was abuzz with promising announcements for the Québec aerospace sector at the 52nd International Paris Air Show – Le Bourget. Two major new investments involving Zodiac Aerospace and F. List were unveiled, as well as a new contract with Altitude Aerospace, and an important cooperation agreement between Aéro Montréal and Gyeongnam Technopark.
Dominique Anglade, Minister of the Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, participated in the announcements as part of the Québec trade mission currently underway at the international air show. Minister Anglade is accompanying a record-breaking Québec delegation of over 50 organizations and some 120 participants.
The Government of Québec will provide $5 million in funding for an estimated $21.3 million project by the Montréal division of Zodiac Aerospace, a Québec subsidiary of French group Zodiac Aerospace. The goal of the project is to acquire production and automation equipment for manufacturing cabin interior structures for business aircraft. The project will create and maintain 300 jobs.
The Québec government will also contribute $1.2 million to F. List for the construction of a plant to produce wood veneer sheets for aircraft interiors. The project is evaluated at $8.6 million and will create more than 100 jobs.
Altitude Aerospace, a company specializing in engineering for in-service airplanes, has been designated a Design Approval Organization (DAO) by Transport Canada. Moreover, the company has landed a contract with Airbus to develop solutions on conducting major repairs on the entire in-service Airbus fleet. This will create new jobs in Montréal.
Cooperation agreement between Aéro Montréal and Gyeongnam Technopark
Québec aerospace cluster Aéro Montréal signed a major cooperation agreement with Gyeongnam Technopark, a South Korean tech innovation organization. The agreement is meant to boost ties between Québec and South Korean businesses. Joint seminars and conferences will be held to spur dialogue.
At Espace Québec, Minister Anglade presented a new promotional video for the Québec aerospace sector to more than 100 representatives from international and Québec organizations. The video, which featured contributions from across the sector, will be used by Québec businesses as well as the Québec government and its partners. It will help raise the sector’s international profile and bolster Québec’s position as a world leader over the coming years.
“These announcements once again demonstrate the importance our government accords to attracting foreign investments and carrying out projects that diversify and galvanize the Québec aerospace industry. They also reflect the determination of industry players to reach new heights through innovation, a key component of the 2016–2026 Québec Aerospace Strategy. I’m delighted to see international cooperation take center stage again this year. It’s bound to yield positive spinoffs and business opportunities for the Québec industry. I wish great success for Zodiac Aerospace, F. List, Altitude Aerospace, and Aéro Montréal, which are driving forces for Québec.”
Dominique Anglade, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy
