Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, August 19, 2014 – Jacques Daoust, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports, announced today that $4 million in financial assistance has been awarded through Investissement Québec to Solutions d’alarme incendie Maple Armor Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Chinese company Beida Jade Bird Group. Of this sum, $3 million will be provided as an interest-free loan, while the remaining $1 million will take the form of a financial contribution.
The government assistance will be put toward a $30-million capital investment project involving the construction of a plant to manufacture wireless fire alarm systems in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. All in all, the project will create 70 high-quality jobs in the region.
“I’m especially proud that this Chinese company has chosen Québec as the location for its North American plant,” said Jacques Daoust. “The arrival of a new foreign subsidiary confirms Québec’s drawing power for major investment projects. Our workforce is highly specialized, and our business environment is competitive.”
The 100,000-sq.-ft. Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville facility will be fitted with six production lines. It will include machinery and equipment that was mostly designed in Québec and will be used primarily to produce the electronic devices. A quality-control laboratory is also planned for the new facility and will house its R&D operations.
