Creation of a Centre of Excellence in Satellite Manufacturing in Montréal

Québec is supporting a $202-million project by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, May 9, 2017 - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates has announced plans to establish a centre of excellence in satellite manufacturing in Montréal and develop and manufacture next-generation satellite systems.

The new centre of excellence will enable the corporation to secure its position on the global next-generation satellite system market and pursue potential contracts totalling over $500 million in the coming years. The project is expected to consolidate 169 permanent jobs in Québec.

 

Dominique Anglade, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, announced today that the Québec government would provide a $45-million loan and a non-refundable financial contribution of $3 million through Investissement Québec in support of the $202-million project. The Minister was accompanied for the occasion by Mr. Geoffrey Kelley, MNA for Jacques-Cartier and Minister responsible for Native Affairs.
