ASTEK and Berger Levrault Set Up in Greater Montréal

ASTEK, a French group that provides consulting, information systems development, and scientific and technical engineering, announced that it will be opening its North American business unit in the Greater Montréal area. Founded in 1988, ASTEK has 20 locations in France, 8 offices in other countries (Belgium, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, China, Poland, Mauritius and Vietnam), and a global workforce of 2,500. The group generates annual sales of €185 million.

The Montréal subsidiary, ASTEK Québec, will have two divisions: an R&D unit and an outsourcing organization for IT project development. Operations are slated to begin in summer 2014 and recruitment is in full swing. ASTEK hopes to create a total of a hundred jobs in the next three years.

Berger Levrault is the tenth largest software publisher in France. Its market positioning is focused exclusively on the public sector and public agencies providing patient, citizen and user services. The company employs 1,200 people and posts sales of €120 million.

Berger Levrault recently acquired and began expanding COBA, a firm based in Laval, Québec. The company plans to make Montréal its North American headquarters, acquire four or five other Québec facilities in the short and medium term to solidify its presence in North America, and create 25 jobs in the next three years, which would be eligible for the tax credit for the development of e-business.
