President and Chief Executive Officer of Investissement Québec
January 1, 2011, Jacques Daoust became President and Chief Executive Officer of the new Investissement Québec, created with the merger of Investissement Québec and Société générale de financement du Québec. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Investissement Québec and its subsidiaries from June 2006 to January 2011.
Mr. Daoust has a Bachelor of Business Administration from HEC Montréal and an MBA from Université Laval. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Before joining Investissement Québec, Mr. Daoust held a number of executive positions in finance. For Laurentian Bank of Canada, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of BLC-Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management (2001-2005), Executive Vice-President, Wealth Management and Brokerage (2001-2003), and Executive Vice-President, Retail Financial Services (1998-2001). Also from 1998 to 2001, he held the office of President and Chief Executive Officer of Laurentian Trust.
At the National Bank of Canada (1986-1998), he was successively Senior Vice-President, Human Resources and Administration, Executive Vice-President, General Trust of Canada, President and Chief Executive Officer of Natcan Investment Management Inc., and President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Securities.
Mr. Daoust takes an interest in teaching and was visiting professor at HEC Montréal in 2006. He is a member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines et en relations industrielles agréés du Québec.
During his career, Mr. Daoust has served as chairman or member of some twenty boards of directors. He has received various awards, including the Mercury Award in 1994 in the category of human resources development for large corporations presented by the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec; the Annual Merit Award in June 1995 presented by the Association des professionnels en ressources humaines du Québec; and the Hermès Award in 2008 from the Université Laval faculty of administration, which honours personalities in the business community who have graduated from the faculty and who, through their exceptional careers, serve as an example for the next generation of management professionals. In 2009, he was also named MBA of the year by the Québec MBA Association, whose annual gala honours an outstanding MBA who has made a difference in the business community. And in 2011, he received the Grands diplômés de l’Université Laval award, which pays tribute to graduates who have been a particular credit to Université Laval and their profession, through their professional activities and their contribution to society. |
