Each year, the prestigious magazine Site Selection gives an award to the provincial economic development agency that stands out the most for its support to businesses looking to establish themselves or expand on its territory. This year, Investissement Québec won the top prize for Canadian competitiveness!
“Just as the province’s most famous export, Cirque du Soleil, is pitching its tents all over the world, foreign direct investment trends show plenty of companies from those same countries pitching their tents in Québec,” says Adam Bruns, Site Selection’s Managing Editor. Indeed, while several Québec businesses are doing business around the world—Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory, which creates visual effects for shows by big international stars, are a few examples—companies from around the world are also putting down roots in Québec! This has been the case with several major players in the multimedia, special effects and video gaming industry, including Ubisoft, Framestore, Digital Dimension and Autodesk.
Known for its creativity, Québec attracts numerous companies from the visual effects, video game and theatrical production industries. The generous tax credits offered to businesses choosing to start operations in Québec also contribute to its excellent performance.
Creativity, the rich culture and tax credits that encourage research and innovation are key to the success of Québec, a province that continues to breed and grow world-calibre companies!
