Graitec Expanding to Serve Greater Montréal Construction Industry

Montréal subsidiary will become French company’s 2nd largest site

Montréal, July 28, 2021 – Graitec Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of international group Graitec whose technological solutions improve building and infrastructure design processes, has further deepened its commitment to Montréal by creating some forty jobs over the next year to meet growing demand from North American clients.

Graitec has been operating in Greater Montréal since 2001, and is at the heart of the construction industry’s digital transformation.

The company’s Montréal team develops and rolls out digital solutions that help clients with design (e.g. architects) and in carrying out infrastructure and building projects to implement innovative BIM (Building Information Modelling) software. This portfolio of software allows for detailed 3D project design, which simplifies information exchange and collaboration between various professionals and workers involved. BIM software therefore has the potential to considerably speed up construction projects and reduce associated costs.

“Considering the global health crisis, technology and being proficient in technology have become much more important. Our software can optimize the quantity of resources used for a project. This is a sizeable advantage considering the higher costs of construction materials, such as lumber,” said Hugo Michaud, Managing Director, Graitec. “We are very proud of our team’s work over the past year and the success we had with clients who trusted our software and services.”

The first few hires will support stakeholders in Québec’s construction sector with their digital transformation, both at the office and work site. The company offers consulting services and specialized techniques, and also provides training so clients can become fully self-sufficient in using and managing BIM technologies. This project follows Graitec Group’s acquisition of StrucSoft Solutions and Redcage.

Since 2001, the Montréal team has more than tripled in size, from some thirty employees to a hundred, and it continues to grow despite the pandemic. By 2023, the company expects to double the size of its technical team, which includes BIM consultants, application specialists and programmers, to meet the needs of the local market and expand its operations across Canada and the U.S.

This investment is particularly notable for the Montréal subsidiary as the expansion will make it the group’s second largest office among locations in 13 countries.

“Demand for construction, engineering and architecture services has increased in Montréal. We are delighted to assist an innovative player that seeks to respond to the needs of our local industry and clients elsewhere in North America. It is another example of the strength and the diversity of Greater Montréal’s economy,” said Stéphane Paquet, President and CEO of Montréal International.

“Innovation is everyone's business and the construction and infrastructure industries are no exception,” said Hubert Bolduc, President of Investissement Québec International. “This new investment by Graitec, leading to the creation of its largest development centre outside of France, is another example of how strong our ecosystem is. Our team will continue to promote the advantages of investing in Québec over the long term to build technologies that will transform key sectors of national and international economic development in a sustainable way.”
