Canadian Competitiveness Awards

Montréal, September 2, 2021 - The title of most competitive Canadian economic development agency for 2020-2021 was bestowed upon Investissement Québec as part of the Canadian Competitiveness Awards competition. The award, which Investissement Québec has been honoured with numerous times in the past, is presented annually by the American magazine, Site Selection, to the provincial economic development agency that stands out the most in fulfilling its mandate of attracting international investment.

"We are proud to be recognized for our efforts in supporting international companies that wish to establish or expand their operations in Quebec," says Hubert Bolduc, President of Investissement Québec International.

During the 2020-2021 fiscal period, Investissement Québec International’s prospecting and support activities facilitated 109 projects related to the establishment or expansion of foreign companies, representing a total value of $3.7 billion. These projects will help to create or preserve more than 10,000 jobs in the Province of Quebec. L'Oréal, AppDirect, and Kraft are among the many companies that have relied upon the agency’s customized support services to increase their activities and impacts in Quebec.

Investissement Québec International’s strength lies in the collaboration and cohesion of its efforts. Its teams of direct foreign sellers work in close collaboration with locally based teams in Quebec and abroad, as well as with economic development agencies and sector associations in Quebec that are also dedicated to attracting direct foreign investment. In similar fashion, the team supporting local businesses with their export efforts can rely on the market expertise of specialists based in 35 Quebec government offices located in 18 countries and 6 Canadian cities.
